Dr Sarah Carlick is renowned as an expert in the use of the creative arts, social action methods and technology for enhancing the learning in all areas of safeguarding for children, young people and adults at risk. She is the founder and Managing Director of The Athena Programme since 2007 and has transformed organisations into safer places cultures.
Sarah has been awarded many accolades for her entrepreneurial success. Extraordinary Entrepreneur Award 2011; Finalist IOD Lancashire Young Director of the Year 2011; Finalist Small Business Lancashire Red Rose Awards 2011; New Employer of the Year 2010 Blackburn College Awards; Start-up of the Year 2010 North West Business Women Awards.
She has recently gained her PhD from Lancaster University for her Post Doctoral Studies researching ‘Creative arts based technologies for inter-agency working together for safeguarding’.
By telling her personal journey as a social worker to business woman, or sharing her innovative techniques and findings from her research, she connects with the audience on an emotional and reflective level. Ultimately she brings to life the passion, determination and sharing of best practice that’s needed for safeguarding of children, young people and adults at risk.
