As The Athena Programme goes from strength
Thriving in a professional environment which encompasses an organised, methodical approach to provision of services to the community, she has amassed broad capability and a profound proficiency as an Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO), Child Protection Conference Chair, and Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO).
17 years as an IRO has earned her the respect of colleagues and superiors alike. Possessing strong leadership skills, Ruth works extremely well with a wide variety of professionals and partners at all levels, advising, supporting, leading, training and, where appropriate, offering constructive challenge to views and actions.
Skilled in influencing and negotiating, Ruth inspires people to work towards shared solutions and agreed objectives. Ruth diligently maintains her knowledge of current research within her field of expertise, recognising the challenge of practicing in her profession where changes in approach and legislation are continually developing locally and nationally. She is an enthusiastic, conscientious person with high levels of personal resilience and an ability to deal with complex emotional situations with sensitivity and empathy.
Ruth has a great sense of humour and likes to find the positive in situations, especially with being a mother to a teenage son and twin teenage daughters which maintains her negotiating skills well! She is a keen baker and cook and loves trying new exciting recipes with a healthy collection of recipe books. She loves learning new skills and rekindling old ones. She has recently returned to the world of motorcycling after 20 years.
