KEY STAGE TEACHER SUPPLY

Key Stage Teacher Supply specialises in supplying teachers and support staff to Nursery, Primary, Secondary and Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools throughout Lancashire and Cumbria.

Their role as an agency is to support the needs of teachers and support staff on their books and the schools where they are placed, to ensure that at the end of the day pupils receive the best possible educational provision.

Launched in 2000, Key Stage Teacher Supply now has offices in Blackburn, Chorley and Lancaster supplying Teachers, Cover Supervisors, Nursery Nurses and Teaching Assistants. Their reputation has grown amongst teachers and schools for being an agency that operates to high standards of professionalism and working practice.

The Challenge

KST had to fulfil mandatory requirements for all supply teachers to be trained to Safeguarding Children Level 1 standard. They needed a flexible training solution – with the ability for courses to be held either on a Saturday morning or as twilight sessions to ensure that supply teachers did not miss out on paid work. They also needed a course that would stimulate and sustain the interest of teachers at the end of a long working day.

The Athena Solution

We recognised that Key Stage Teacher Supply wanted a totally customised training course for teachers that would give them the clear and concise information they need to safeguard effectively, the children in their care.

We delivered a Safeguarding Children Level 1 course with particular regard to legislation as it applies in the education sector; included in this were Case Studies written exclusively with education staff in mind, all of which helped to make the learning interactive and dynamic. We used training materials that delegates would be familiar with at school, such as Lego and artwork, and this was backed-up by written and signposting supporting resources.

The Outcome

Jane Scott, Managing Director, commented: “I chose The Athena Programme because of their professional reputation.” Sarah Goodall presented the company in a very appealing way, and she assured me she could design a totally bespoke course for teachers.

The training was reasonably priced and the content was more appealing to teachers  ”I wanted a course that would still interest them even though it took place at the end of their long working day.

The training has instilled my confidence in our teachers that they are competent in safeguarding.”  Because of the content of the training I know it will have interested them and held their attention.

When I go into schools I can say with confidence that our teachers are fully compliant with mandatory legislation and national standards. “The training has cleared any uncertainty about safeguarding and raised awareness.

The feedback from teachers attending the training has been very good.”  They’ve said they feel that their knowledge and skills have been refreshed.

Working with the Athena team has been wonderful.  They are fantastic – very efficient and responsive.”  I would highly recommend The Athena Programme”  They are a great team and a real pleasure to work with.”
