Understanding Neglect

Whether you see them face to face or in a home environment when working with parents, you are responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.  Neglect is on the increase, and as the most common type of abuse is the category you are most likely to come across.  Understanding Neglect is designed to give you an in-depth knowledge of the often complex reasons why children are abused in this way.

Benefits

The course will enable you to identify the signs of neglect, recognise how your own values and beliefs may influence your decisions, know the resilience factors for children, place the needs of the child at the centre of your decision-making, identify the parental factors that increase risk for the child, understand the position of young carers and have an awareness of current legislation and guidance governing a multi-agency response to neglect.
