Understanding Sexual Abuse

Understanding Sexual Abuse is a course designed to give you a more in depth knowledge of sexual abuse and how it affects children and young people.  It will clarify the myths and facts about child sexual abuse, including the characteristics and behavior of perpetrators, and provide you with a sound knowledge of current legislation and guidance specifically designed to protect children and young people from this type of abuse.


From this course you will gain an increased awareness of the specific signs and symptoms of sexual abuse, how it affects childhood behavior and development, the child’s perspective, adult sex offending patterns, and key issues for the investigation process.

You do not have to have any previous experience of working with children and young people in the area of sexual abuse to benefit from this course.
